這首〈喬伊快跑〉(Run Joey Run)描繪父親無意間發現女兒朱莉與男孩喬伊的姦情後，兩造間的衝突悲劇，透過朱莉與喬伊之口交錯娓娓道出這齣人倫慘劇。

1975年，大衛蓋茲(David Geddes)創作演唱的〈喬伊快跑〉(Run Joey Run)是首懺情悲歌，比1960年雷彼得森(Ray Peterson)所唱紅的〈告訴蘿拉我愛她〉(Tell Laura I love her)更加濫情。距青少年輓歌鼎盛時期約有十年之久，大衛蓋茲重彈此風，1975年該曲曾高居排行榜的第4名。兩首曲子共通之處，就是男主角都未聽從女友的勸告，而造成悲劇。兩曲亦均有世代間的衝突，喬伊未獲朱莉老爸接納，湯米則想贏得獎金，讓未來的丈母娘刮目相看。朱莉老爸為何不接受喬伊與女兒的戀情，在〈喬伊快跑〉歌中並未交代。或許朱莉老爸發現了女兒的避孕藥，或是朱莉懷孕小腹隆起，也可能是朱莉與喬伊的親密拍立得合照被老爸無意中發現。但無論如何，戀情與親情的衝突，在父權高漲又擁槍自重的衝動下，悲劇已不可避免。
