這首〈霧深露重〉(The Foggy Dew)最早曲調的來源並不可考，目前已知最早的錄音版本是1913年RCA Victor唱片公司在紐澤西州卡姆登郡所灌錄，由男高音約翰麥科邁克(John McCormack)演唱米利根(L.F. Milligan)作詞版本的〈霧深露重〉(The Foggy Dew)，鋼琴伴奏為史賓塞克雷(Spenser Clay)。
