昨天搭主任的車去探望一位生產的同事，車上播著法蘭基維利(Frankie Valli)與「四季」合唱團(The Four Seasons) 1975年所唱紅的《1963年12月(哦，美妙的夜晚)/December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)》這首迪斯可(disco)風味的經典歌曲。對我而言，用簡單兩字來形容這首歌就是「匪類」。1975年是怎樣的年代，正是那戒嚴舞禁未開的年代，少年郎偷偷摸摸舉辦的舞會中，常常播放思想不純正的「匪類」歌曲，此曲就是其中之一，這歌首旋律輕快，bass line非常活潑富變化，加上團員美妙假音和聲，勾勒出匪類夜晚的歡愉及無窮回味。其實歌曲背後的故事也確實是有夠匪類曲折的，西洋歌曲達人也是廣播前輩蔣國男對此歌的來龍去脈有很清楚的描寫：

2005年，「四季」合唱團的故事被改編為百老匯音樂劇「澤西少年郎」（Jersey Boys），音樂劇一開場就是由一位法國饒舌歌手翻唱《December, 1963 (Oh, What a Night)》。劇中將這首歌的故事時空提前至1963年出現，描繪他們在那年冬天首度展開全美各地的巡迴演唱，各大唱片公司也紛紛展開挖角的行動，為了討好他們，甚至發動「美女」攻勢，在聖誕節的時候派遣身材火熱的辣妹投懷送抱，據說該團歌曲主要創作者之一的鮑布高迪歐(Bob Gaudio)還因此享受到了生平的「第一次」，後來更把這個美妙的經驗化為他們的這首經典。

事實上，這首歌不但在1975年才誕生，當初創作的動機也完全不同。跟高迪歐一起負責作曲的，是後來成為他妻子的茱蒂帕克(Judy Parker)。當他們譜寫「December 1963 (Oh What a Night)」的時候，標題中本來並沒有「1963」的存在。事實上，他們原本把「故事情節」的時空背景設定為1933年，描述當時美國解除禁酒令的事 件，不過茱蒂很不喜歡歌詞，法蘭基也沒有表示好感。後來，高迪歐和茱蒂花了整整兩天的時間修改，茱蒂重寫歌詞，而高迪歐則修改旋律，最後終於變成完全不同的「December 1963 (Oh What a Night)」。歌曲推出之後，首先在英國造成轟動，成了「四季」在英國唯一的冠軍曲，接著又在1976年三月十三日登上他們闊別整整十二年的美國冠軍寶座，蟬聯三個星期。
